Frederick County Crime of the Week - March 31, 2008
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a strong-arm robbery and assault and battery that occurred at 3522 Martinsburg Pike. The victim reported that in the early morning hours of March 8, 2008, he had accepted a ride to his home with three unknown males in a an older model dark colored GMC extended cap pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the Martinsburg Pike address, and two of the males began to assault the victim. They demanded that he give them his money, which he did. The males then got back in the vehicle and drove off, leaving him in the parking lot.

Type of Crime: Strong Arm Robbery
Summary: The Winchester Police Department is investigating a strong arm robbery of the Target Store located at 2340 Legge Blvd on October 21, 2007. A male of unknown race entered the business through an employee entrance and forced an employee into an office, where he had the employee lay face down while he placed money in a duffle bag. The suspect left the area in a light colored van possibly a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette or a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The suspect was described as wearing all black including a sweatshirt, sweatpants, ski mask and gloves.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - March 3,2008
This week’s Crime of the Week involves an armed robbery at Ellis Market, located at 741 Jordan Springs Road. The clerk reported that on February 22, 2008, an unidentified male entered the business, produced a handgun and demanded that she give him all the money. The clerk complied and the assailant took the cash and several packs of cigarettes. He then left on foot, running towards the back of the store.

The Winchester Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery. An employee of Circuit City entered her vehicle after work and noticed a male in all black approaching her on foot with a handgun. The victim got the attention of other employees and the suspect fled on foot southbound from the parking lot. The suspect was described as a male of unknown race, wearing black ski mask, gloves, dark sunglasses and a black hoodie sweatshirt.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - February 18, 2008
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in on February 7, 2008 at the 200 block of Sherando Circle in Stephens City. After gaining entry to the residence, unknown suspects removed an ACER Model 3003LCI laptop computer, valued at $500.00. No other items were reported missing from the residence at that time. The Sheriff’s Office is also investigating other burglaries in the area, specifically on Georgetown Court, within the last month.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - February 4, 2008
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny on January 28, 2008 in the 200 block of Georgetown Court in Stephens City. Unknown suspects forcibly entered the residence through the rear basement window. Once inside, suspects removed a Sony PSP, a Playstation II, a Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance and numerous Playstation games. The Sheriff’s Office is also investigating other possibly related burglaries on Georgetown Court within the last month.

This week’s crime of the week involves the breaking and entering of Donato’s Only For You Restaurant at 229 S. Loudoun Street in the City of Winchester on November 17, 2007. Three individuals made entry to the business by breaking the front window. One of the suspects is a black male approximately 6’ tall or taller wearing a white sweatshirt. The other two suspects were possibly white males, both with thin builds and approximately 5’10”, wearing dark clothing.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - January 7, 2008
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating three separate burglaries in the 100 block of Lexington Court in Stephens City, Virginia. These incidents occurred between December 8 and December 14, 2007. In each incident, entry was forced either through a rear window or the front door. A large quantity of jewelry was taken from each residence, along with a laptop computer, video games and a camera.

Winchester Crime of the Week - December 31, 2007
Victim: Various Date of Crime: December 4-27, 2007 Type of Crime: Unlawful Entries Summary: The Winchester Police Department is investigating several incidents of unlawful entry and larceny from residences in the north end of the City of Winchester, which have occurred during the evening hours while victims have been home. The suspect gained entry through unlocked doors and took purses and wallets lying in plain view. The suspect is described as a black male, medium complexion, approximately 5’9”, and a thin to medium build. A witness who encountered the suspect completed a composite which is available on the Winchester Police Department website.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several break ins that occurred at Sherando High School Concession Stand, Frederick County Parks and Recreation Snack Bar and Martin’s in Stephens City, between 11/21 and 11/26/2007. Force was used to gain entry to each of these locations and, once inside, suspects removed cartons of cigarettes and other miscellaneous items.

Winchester Crime of the Week - December 17, 2007
Victim: United Bank Date of Crime: December 14, 2007 Type of Crime: Bank Robbery Summary: On December 14th, 2007 at approximately 5:42 p.m. a lone male entered the United Bank located at 1041 Berryville Avenue and placed what appeared to be a black bag on the bank counter and demanded that the teller put money in the bag. The individual was described as being 5’10” – 6’2”, and 160-190 lbs. His race and age have not been determined. The male wore a black sweatshirt with a hood, black full face ski mask, black gloves, and glasses and had on blue jeans. The individual displayed some type of canister in his hands which bank employees believed to be a form of chemical spray commonly known as mace. Tellers complied with his demands and the individual was last observed fleeing on foot towards the Woodland and Orchard Avenues vicinity.

Summary: This week’s crime of the week involves the breaking and entering and larceny of two separate residences located in the City of Winchester on October 29, 2007.
The first Burglary occurred at 2731 Papermill Road where unknown subject(s) entered the residence and stole a Phillips DVD player, surround sound speaker and a sombrero valued in excess of $150.00. Witnesses described a tall male (no further physical), wearing a green jacket at the residence who left the scene in a dark red colored pickup bearing an unknown Mississippi registration. The second Burglary occurred at 1653 S. Braddock Street, Apartment #1 where the victim reported that a Mexican Identification Card and Resident Alien Card as well as family photographs were stolen. Winchester Crime of the Week - October 22, 2007

Type of Crime: Offense #1 Simple Assault, Offense #2 Home Invasion
Location: Offense #1 – 1600 block of S. Braddock St, Offense #2 – 1600 block of S. Braddock Street
Summary: This week’s Crime of the Week involves two separate offenses (Simple assault and Home invasion) in which the Winchester Police believe are related.
On September 27, 2007 between 7:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. the male victim was walking in the 1600 block of South Braddock Street where he was approached by two white males who asked him for drugs. The victim told the individuals that he did not have any drugs and was physically assaulted by the two men.
The second offense occurred between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of South Braddock Street where two white males entered a residence in an attempt to rob the inhabitants. The victim answered the door after hearing a knock and the two individuals forced their way into the apartment. The individuals displayed knives upon entry and threatened the victim with bodily injury if he did not give them money. The victim was able to get away from the suspects and seek assistance.
In both incidents the suspects were described as two white males. One subject was described as being between 30 and 35 years of age, 6 feet tall and weighed over 200 pounds. He had sandy-blonde hair, some facial hair and green eyes. He was possibly wearing a green t-shirt, brown shorts and a red bandana covering his forehead. The second suspect was between 35 and 40 years of age. He is about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 170 pounds and has a mustache. He was possibly wearing a white t-shirt and unknown colored shorts.
In the first incident the suspects were seen leaving in a blue van and in the second incident they left the area in a white Chevy Cavalier sedan. In both incidents, the suspects spoke some Spanish.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a grand larceny from James Wood High School that occurred on September 23, 2007. It was reported that numerous items, including a cordless drill, U. S. Currency, a digital camera were removed from an office and from the shop area. A personal cameral belonging to an employee was also taken.

Winchester Crime of the Week - October 8, 2007
Date of Crime: September 22, 2007 (Saturday) at 2:00 p.m.
Type of Crime: Burglary (Unlawful Entry)
Location: 400 Block of Fairmont Ave
Summary: This week’s Crime of the Week involves the unlawful entry and larceny of jewelry from the victim’s residence.
The residents reported to police that a male subject described as white, 30 years of age, 5’2” – 5’5’, 160 lbs., having brown hair, entered their residence without permission and began a conversation with them about being hired to perform some type of yard work. The subject also requested a glass of water. The subject requested that one of the residents go outside with them to discuss the yard work. A second male described as white, 50 years of age, 5’4”, 105 lbs., gray balding hair, entered the residence without permission and engaged the second resident in conversation. The second resident threatened to call the police if the subject did not leave and the male subject ran out of the house. Both subjects were observed leaving in a red SUV type vehicle. After the subjects left the residence, the residents discovered that several dresser drawers in their bedroom had been ransacked and several items of jewelry stolen.

On September 8, 2007, he Frederick County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a burglary and grand larceny at the Gainesboro Market located at 4780 North Frederick Pike Unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered the business by knocking a hole in the outside of the bathroom wall. Many items inside the store were moved around and several guns, valued at more than $1,500.00, were taken from a storage area.

This week’s Crime of the Week involves a Grand Larceny which occurred between July 19 – 26, 2007 at the 1400 block of Commerce Street in the City of Winchester.
The victim reported to police that unknown suspect(s) stole his CARR Utility Trailer, black in color, displaying Virginia License 703827TR, VIN # 4ymul10174v000042 and a Carlton Stump Grinder, Model #2500, which was on the trailer at the time of the larceny. The items are valued in excess of $14,000.00.

Unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered the business by breaking in a concrete wall and breaking a double paned glass door. Once inside, suspect(s) removed the cash drawer and its contents, and also a safe containing U. S. Currency.

Virginia State Police Crime of the Week - August 21, 2007 Theft of Virginia State Police Tactical Police Equipment
On August 14, 2007, a Virginia State Police (VSP) Trooper discovered that the Department’s Tactical Team Trailer had been broken into. The trailer was parked inside the Stephens City Residency of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) locked facility located at 301 Fairfax Pike, Stephens City, VA. The fence at the VDOT facility was cut and a side door padlock was cut and removed. The following items were taken from the trailer: 1- Remington model 700P 308 Rifle with night scope 1- Honda portable generator Several non-lethal tactical police items; 1- 12 gauge shotgun adapter used to deploy chemical rounds 1- Model 515 Triple Chaser CS gas canister 7- Model 518 CS gas canister 4- Aerosol gas dispensers 6- 37/40mm bean bag rounds Also taken were several miscellaneous rappelling items and ropes.
This case is currently being investigated by VSP Special Agent Kevin S. Newland. This week’s Crime of the Week involves the destruction of property (windows broken) to two vehicles which were parked in the 100 block of West North Avenue, Winchester, Virginia between July 8, 2007 at 6:00 pm and July 9, 2007 at 8:00 a.m.
The first vehicle is a 2002 blue Ford Focus 5 door sedan and the second vehicle is a 1990 gray Honda 4 door sedan. Both vehicles had their driver’s side window broken out.

Berryville Police Department Crime of the Week - August 13, 2007
During the night of August 3, 2007 several vehicles in the Hermitage subdivision of Berryville were entered by unknown suspect(s). One vehicle had a window broken out by a landscaping stone. This week’s Crime of the Week involves the destruction of property to 18 vehicles while parked in the area of Hollingsworth Drive and Eagle Drive, Winchester, Virginia. All of the damaged vehicles had been spray painted with various colors.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - August 1, 2007
This week’s Crime of the Week is the theft of a motor vehicle from Stephens City, Virginia. The vehicle, a 1994 Gold Honda Accord was reported stolen from 100 Kevern Court on July 27, 2007. On the same date, the vehicle was recovered near Belleview and Ogden Lanes. The vehicle had been wrecked and sustained extensive damage.
